Scientists have figured out that there are more than 100 billion galaxies in the universe. That there are more stars than they can count. All this created by a God who put the planets in orbit so that they don't crash into each other in chaos. All this created by God.
So when it came to saving a few human beings, why did God have to kill a man? Why did He not just snap his finger and voila! Man is saved. What is wrong with His power that He had to kill someone?
In Genesis God said to Adam if you eat of this tree you will activate this thing here called death. See, death was created inherent in every living thing….by God. Death is part of life. The one thing I like about this conversation between Adam and God is that God will give you the consequences of your actions, He just says it, “you will die”. Satan on the other hand is not as straight, he says things like “ you will not surely die, God doesn't want you to be like Him”….BUT he never tells you what the consequences are.
When you separate the resource from the source, you do not have to kill the resource, it will die. Sin is the Rebellion against the known will of God. In rebellion we separated ourselves from God. Rebellion activated the POWER of death. Man’s disobedience to God’s word gave death the power to kill man.
In Hebrews it says Jesus tasted death for all men. Jesus did not come to deal with death, He came to deal with the POWER of death, because death on its own is like a bee with its stinger. Paul understood it when he said “oh death, where is your sting?”
for example, When you owe the bank money, they can call you everyday about their money, but when you pay them off, they can't bother you no more. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death, Good Friday was death’s pay day. Jesus went into His pocket on the cross and paid death in full. Death cannot bother you anymore. Your debt to death was paid.
The proof comes 3 days later.
For many years God substituted the blood of animals, sheep, goats, cows and the like to atone for our rebellion(sin), until He decided to fix it once and for all. The FIX was not an easy one. Part of Him was going to have to die. That is why there is no need for any blood sacrifices any more. On Golgotha was an altar that held the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus.
By one man death killed all men and by another man life eternal was offered to all men.
I hope that you can see God’s faithfulness to word in Genesis and that by lengths He is willing to go to save us, you can see how deep His love is for us.
Cheers!
