Why did Jesus teach in parables? Why did He not Just tell everyone what He meant?
Integrity. An integrated person is one whose thoughts, words and actions are one. Jesus was a man of integrity. Knowing full well that man was given free will, he knew he had so much truth to teach but he also knew that not everyone wanted his truth.
Parables are given on the premise that nothing is yours until you find it. A parable is meant to hide the truth, so that only he or she who seeks for its truth will find it. This way, Jesus respects man's free will and he maintains his Holiness.
The bible in proverbs says it is the glory of God to conceal a matter and the honour of kings to seek it out.
Dr. Myles Munroe in his book Kingdom Principles teaches this in a way that is easy to understand minus the theatrics.
